The Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, the Smithsonian’s museums of Asian art is hosting the third installment of the Freer Story lecture series.
A Meeting of Minds: Designing the Freer Gallery looks back on the way the architecture of the Gallery represents the interests of collector Charles Lang Freer and architect Charles A. Platt, and its significance in the development of DC as a “monumental city.” Featured speakers include Keith Morgan, professor emeritus at Boston University, and Therese O’Malley, associate dean at the National Gallery of Art’s Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts.
