AIA Event: D Convo #96: Mckeldin Plaza

  • Showroom Bar 120 W. North Avenue Baltimore, MD 21201 (map)

What is McKeldin Plaza’s role in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor landscape? What should be its future? The former Brutalist fountain anchoring this space has been removed, and temporary landscaping awaits the plaza’s revitalization as a civic space.

Design Conversation #96 focuses on the role of designers in research, advocacy, and activism around public space. It features presentations exploring McKeldin Plaza’s past, present, and future. Student design ideas from the University of Maryland landscape architecture program will be on display.

The D Convo will be filmed for a short video documenting the research findings and community dialogue. The video is funded by an AIA National initiative (Blueprint for Better Communities) and may be distributed by them, AIA Baltimore, and NDC in further conversations about McKeldin Plaza.
