2018 Delaware APA Regional Conference

  • Rehoboth Beach Conference Center 229 Rehoboth Avenue Rehoboth Beach, DE, 19971 United States (map)

Planning 360: Economy, Environment and Health

Since 1999, the Delaware and Maryland Chapters of the American Planning Association have jointly organized an biannual regional planning conference known as the Delaware/Maryland (or Maryland/Delaware) APA Regional Conference. This year, Delaware is the sole conference organizer, so we have named the conference the 2018 Delaware APA Regional Conference.

Typically held in the Fall, the conference is one of the best learning experiences for APA/AICP members in the region. The conference features two days of high quality, hands-on and interactive sessions, mobile workshops, planning law and planning ethics presentations, member networking, vendor contacts, plus a few surprises.

For AICP members, this is a valuable experience to gain those much needed credits for Certification Maintenance. Whether you are an APA member, an AICP member, a student, or a person with an interest in the practice of Planning, this conference always delivers something for everyone!

The 2018 Delaware APA Regional Conference will be held at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware on October 23-24, 2018.

We already have commitments from two major speakers, who will likely speak at our lunches and participate in follow-up in-depth sessions.

  • Georgia Sheridan, AICP, is a veteran planner from Los Angeles who also co-created and teaches a visual communications course at UCLA. Georgia had perhaps the most popular session at last year's National APA Conference in New York, a session which explored ways planners can communicate better with the public using lessons from the advertising industry. We are bringing her to Delaware to share her useful and fun insights.

  • Dr. Tim Chapin is Dean for the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy and a Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Florida State University. Tim is one of the leading national researchers on the impacts autonomous vehicles may have on future urban design. His insights will help us to advantageously position our communities for the coming waves of autonomous vehicle deployments.

The conference is organized by volunteer APA Chapter members. Explore this website for details on the program and other activities

APA membership is not required for presenters or attendees of the conference.

We will be applying for AICP CM credits for most sessions.
